TED – Just How Small is an Atom?

TED

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

About

Just how small are atoms? And what’s inside them? The answers turn out to be astounding, even for those who think they know. This fast-paced animation uses spectacular metaphors (imagine a blueberry the size of a football stadium!) to give a visceral sense of the building blocks that make our world.

TED – Questions no one knows the answers to

TED

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

About the author

After a long career in journalism and publishing, Chris Anderson became the curator of the TED Conference in 2002 and has developed it as a platform for identifying and disseminating ideas worth spreading. In this series Chris shares his obsession with questions that no one (yet) knows the answers to. The introduction leads into two questions as follow-up films: Why can’t we see evidence of alien life? and How many universes are there?

TED – Why can’t we see evidence of alien life

In this series Chris shares his obsession with questions that no one (yet) knows the answers to. This animation explores the famous Fermi Paradox. Given the vast number of planets in the universe, many much older than Earth, why haven’t we yet seen obvious signs of alien life?

Quantitative Easing England Squad

Here’s a VizProv for @BBCStephanie and @bertyc taken from Beth’s comments last night about Stephanie Flanders becoming England’s new football manager. Surely she would apply some Quantitative Easing to her new squad no?

Giving the Perfect Interview

There are two things that prompted this VizProv. We are currently looking for a ‘Studio Assistant’ to join our team – if you are interested or know somebody that might be then please click here for more details.  Also @RichardWiseman recently sent us a copy of ’58 Seconds’ an excellent book full of great stories and good advice. There is a small section about giving the perfect interview which got me thinking. The results are the VizProv below. Hopefully there is good advice in there for potential applicants. Please don’t come dressed as Vader!

The importance of Art

Once again I have delved into the ‘social brain’ of the RSA and made a VizProv from some of their wonderful content. Thanks to Dr Emma Lindley for sending me the link to her article for me to do the improvisation with. It’s a bit tricky working on the mini portable whiteboard. I prefer the big upright walls!
